Well, look who’s back in the news. If it isn’t one of our favorite celebrities, Lindsay Lohan.
We know her from movies such as The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday, Mean Girls, Herbie Fully Loaded, The Canyons.
Lindsay Lohan is back in the news but she’s not necessarily back in a positive manner. Well, at least, depending on your own point of view.
After being back in the spotlight for some controversial comments about the #MeToo movement where she mentioned that women looked weak when they talked about that matter, she’s looked back on those statements and has decided that it would best for all involved if she apologized.
Take a look at her final apology with the following statement:
“The quote solely related to my hope that a handful of false testimonies out of a tsunami of heroic voices do not serve to dilute the importance of the #MeToo movement, and all of us who champion it. However, I have since learned how statements like mine are seen as hurtful, which was never my intent. I’m sorry for any pain I may have caused.”
That’s certainly a mouthful but hey it looks like it is a genuine and holistic apology. Maybe her original words were taken out of context. Who knows?
But guess what?
Not everyone was happy with the apology. Go figure right?
Some people feel like she didn’t apologize at all and this topic is still the talk of the town for a lot of people. Perhaps the apologies felt empty to them. Maybe they had a personal connection to the topic in question?
Again, who knows. But all we know is that it certainly ruffled a lot of feathers.
So what did she say?
Well, the controversial comments she made was in an interview for the UK’s Times “If it happens at that moment, you discuss it at that moment. You make it a real thing by making it a police report. I’m going to really hate myself for saying this, but I think by women speaking against these things, it makes them look weak when they are very strong women”
It is an interesting comment, isn’t it? There are definitely two sides to the coin and one can see how it can easily be twisted. But it looks like her statement was logical.
With the context, we have to agree that the apology does feel somewhat empty in relation to the comments she made, but it’s not a surprise that this type of comment came from her.
The actress has been involved in a lot of previous controversies that people seem to have forgotten, almost a year ago she actually defended Harvey Weinstein where she said on an Instagram video that “I don’t think it’s right what’s going on. I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband. He’s never harmed me or did anything to me. We’ve done several movies together. I think everyone needs to stop. I think it’s wrong. So, stand up.”
She was doing a video which mentioned Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina who planned on leaving him.
The actress has also filled her support for current President Donald Trump, where she casually mentions that people need to stop bullying him and start to trust him.
Looks like Lindsay Lohan just doesn’t know where her moral compass is pointing, making points in controversy after controversy.
They say that all publicity is good publicity. If that is the case, then it seems that she’s on the right track.
